Congregate Housing

Our Congregate Housing Program is a low-cost shared living experience in a home-like environment.  It is ideal for elders and younger disabled people who are looking for socialization with the added benefit of continuing to be independent and preserving privacy.

Each resident has his/her own bedroom.  There are common areas such as the living room, kitchen and dining room. Laundry facilities are on-site and support services may be available if a person qualifies.

To qualify you must be at least 60 years of age, or be a person with disabilities; meet income guidelines of the housing authority and the Congregate Housing criteria.  Each person is screened and then a team of professionals determine if Congregate would be a good fit for you.

Oversight and monitoring of the sites is done by Tri-Valley’s Congregate Coordinator. The Coordinator’s function is to facilitate communication, problem solve and procure home care services for people who qualify for them.

There are congregate sites in Spencer, Oxford and Franklin.  Consider yourself a good candidate if you wish to remain independent, are able to get along in groups, do not need 24-hour supervision and desire to socialize but can respect the privacy of others.
