The SHINE program provides free, unbiased and up-to-date health insurance information, counseling and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries of all ages and their caregivers.
SHINE Counselors are community volunteers who are trained and certified by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs. SHINE Counselors provide information on Medicare (Part A & Part B), Medigap insurance, Medicare HMOs, retiree insurance plans, MassHealth and free or reduced cost health care programs.
Tri-Valley hosts a SHINE Counselor twice monthly (2nd and 4th Tuesdays). To set an appointment, call Tri-Valley’s I & R department at 1-800-286-6640.
SHINE Counselors are also available to meet at other community locations. Contact SHINE through the state-wide line at 1-800-AGE-INFO (1-800-243-4636), then press or say 3. Once you get the SHINE answering machine, leave your name and number. A volunteer will call you back, as soon as possible.
